Crisis help
If someone's life is in danger right now, call 999 or go to the nearest hospital emergency department. Do not wait for an appointment.
If you are thinking of ending your life
- Tell someone you trust how you feel — now, not later.
- Move away from anything you could use to hurt yourself.
- Stay with other people if you can; avoid alcohol and drugs.
- Call 999 or go to an emergency department if you feel you might act on these thoughts.
If you are worried about someone else
- Ask them directly and calmly whether they are thinking of suicide. Asking does not put the idea in their head.
- Do not leave them alone if you think they are in immediate danger.
- Remove medicines, sharp objects and other dangerous things if it is safe to do so.
- Call 999 or take them to the nearest emergency department.
When the immediate danger has passed, a psychiatrist can help with what led to the crisis. You can book an appointment or call us during opening hours.
